The National Association for Patient Participation (N.A.P.P.), the national voice for patient participation in Primary Care, is looking to recruit a number of new trustees, including a Board Secretary, to the Board.
On 8 July NHS England announced the results of the 2021 GP Patient Survey, which provides insights on patients’ experience of primary care services, including access to these services.
On 12 May 2021, NHS Digital launched its “Improved Collection of GP Data” programme by issuing a data Provision Notice to GPs. The purpose of this new programme is to use primary care data to better plan healthcare services and provide insights into medical research.
NHS England has proposed that the commissioning functions of Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) need to be absorbed into the newly developing integrated care systems (ICS) by April 2022, as part of its plans to “accelerate collaborative ways of working”.
This comes as part of a package of proposed changes to legislation designed to hand ICSs the direct commissioning power. It will result in a ‘single pot’ of funding which brings together current CCG commissioning budgets and primary care budgets, among other sources of funding.
Our President, Dr Patricia Wilkie, recently completed a paper for the Society of Apothecaries, which explores the history of the patient – from a case, to a person, to a partner.
